If you are looking for an intimate and special dining experience or even a casual girl's night out, you are guaranteed a great time at A La Turka!I have visited A La Turka many times with my boyfriend and each time has been a great dining experience! The owner is always pleasant and makes sure that everyone is happy and satisifed with the service and food. The dishes are authentic and very tasteful. I have not tried the hookah bar, but that is next on my list. I highly recommend A La Turka. Four stars all the way!!

Not even the city's smoking ban can stop the hookahs at A La Turka. In the discolike lounges on the second and third floors, guests can choose among 20 tobacco flavors. Other traditional touches here include pillow seating (though most tables have chairs), folk art, oat-colored ceiling drapes that create a tent effect, Kavaklidere wine and Efes beer, and, yes, bellydancing (Thursday through Sunday nights). Owner Josh Eskeranli often emcees, warming up guests with gift certificates and birthday announcements. The food is traditional too: zucchini pancakes, filo pies, and beef ravioli are hearty Turkish versions of the standards. Starters like a meze plate of sausage and white cheese or a mixed-grilled platter of tender lamb, beef, and chicken come with plenty of dill yogurt for dipping. Baklava, oozing honey, was the best I've had outside of Jerusalem. Reservations recommended on weekends.

This restaurant is beautiful, romantic, friendly, and tasty. My fiance & I finally popped in there for dinner b/c we always walked by it. It was truly one of the best experiences we've had in Chicago. The food is very flavorful. I ate all vegetarian dishes and they were all flavorful. My fiance at a chicken dish, which he loved too. I highly recommend. I'd like to check out the belly dancing sometime too. It's a bit pricy, but definitely worth it! The service was impeccable!

I was reading the reviews before I went to ala turka because a friend from school had recommended me to eat there;I went there on a friday and a saturday night. I had visited turkey before, but didn't think that the food would taste as good as the food I had there! I loved the atmosphere and the decoration. The manager and rest of the staff was extremely friendly. Everyone gives their best to make you feel at home and a part of the ALA TURKA family. the belly dancing is awesome, and there's a raffle too! On Saturdays it's packed, so be prepared to wait a little bit more than expected. But believe me, the wait is worth it. Ala turka is definetely one of the few restaurants I would go back and visit! Awesome job!

An absolutely delightful experience! I was recently there on Saturday for a business dinner, and was very impressed at the hospitality, superb service, and overall authenticity of the Turkish Cuisine! Bravo A La Turka! It was a pleasure dining at your restaurant! No other restaurant gives the overall experience that you provide your patrons!

Such a great idea- went with a bunch of girls and sat in the front window. Great place for birthdays or any other celebrations- even a great way to kick off a bachelorette or bachelor party. Make reservations for the window seats!

The food is good at A La Turka, but what makes this place great is the atmosphere they create - fun and unpretentious. They treat you like family. I brought my brother for his birthday and the owner and staff made it a memorable evening. You can tell the owner loves to make people happy. Every time I've been here he's come by to greet, chat, even once to give us a complimentary bottle of wine. For those looking for a quiet, more intimate atmosphere - go during the week. But if you're up for belly dancing and not taking yourself too seriously - try Friday or Saturday.

Great atmosphere with dark maroon and gold decor. Went for an early dinner on a Sunday. My boyfriend and I shared a kabob sampler platter and a cold appetizer plate. The appetizers were a little blah, I expected more spice. The meat was fantastic! Very juicy & tender. Our server was not so attentive, she didn't check back after bringing our food so it took awhile to get her to get the pita bread she forgot to bring. I would also bet the "Turkish tea" we ordered was Lipton, there's no mistaking that taste!

The food was amazing, I don't know if I know the words to describe how great the food was. It is rare when I'm so full that I force myself to finish the meal and still wish there was more food. I am looking forward to going back again.

Great authentic food. Service was great! Would go back. Upstairs has a hooka bar, but didn't have time to check that out.
