For an extra added effect, stop by the Hookah Bar at the 2nd floor for an after dinner drink while enjoying hookah. HISTORY:
A common identification phrase used through Turkey, Europe and Middle East. It identifies the style and or the origin of many things, such as furniture, clothing, music and most importantly cuisine.
Until 1453, conquering Constantinpol (istanbul) by Ottoman Turks, Ottoman Turkish influence was not felt in Europe. After 1453, it started to penetrate Europe slowly. And new Turkish introduction was identified as "A la Turc" meaning Turkish style or Turkish origin.
One area of influence was the Turkish cuisine.
Ottoman Turks had been cooking many different fresh vegetables using exotic herbs and spices for many decades. The richness of Turkish cooking originates from Ottoman Sultans. During their reign, many of the chefs were trying to create a new dish and taste to please the Sultan in order to receive praise and reward. This movement created a large variety of dish offerings from meat to many fresh vegetables. Most beef dishes were cooked on open flame generally named " kebabs". Besides meat and vegetables, they also excelled in baking by creating different types of bread for different occasions and dishes.
Today, " A La Turka" ( Turkish) cooking is one of the three best known cuisines in the world.
